THE PRACTICAL BITS

Privacy

Updated October 19, 2026

Location choices

Your browser asks for location access only after you press “Use my current location.” You can instead type an address or choose a point on the map. A discovery request sends the selected coordinates, radius, category and recently excluded place IDs to GoSomewhere’s server.

Places results

When live Places search is enabled, the server sends the search area and category to Google Places API (New). Google Places content is used for the current discovery interaction and is not written to an app database, file, or browser storage. Recently excluded place IDs are held in page memory for repeat avoidance and are cleared when you leave or reload the page.

AI exploration assistant

When configured, the chat sends your prompt, selected radius, category and a short recent conversation history to the OpenAI API so it can interpret your request and choose supported search filters. The server does not send Google Places result content or map coordinates to OpenAI. The server requests non-stored Responses and does not keep chat history in an app database. OpenAI processes API data under its Privacy Policy and API data controls.

Abuse protection

The server temporarily keeps an in-memory request counter keyed by the connecting client address to limit repeated discovery calls. The counter expires after one minute. Hosting and network providers may process technical request information under their own policies.

Google services

Google Maps Platform processes map, geocoding, and Places requests under the Google Privacy Policy and Google Maps Platform Terms of Service.
